Every year the biggest names in music gather together to celebrate each other’s achievements, giving out coveted statues, putting on incredible performances, and doing and other things, like walk the red carpet dressed in head-to-toe denim, storm the stage to steal a fellow artist’s award, and get down and dirty with a foam finger. This is the MTV VMAs and this year MOBOT was invited to the party.
MOBOT was chosen to be a part of the official 2014 MTV VMA celebrity gift bags, meaning everyone in attendance, from The Beibs to Nicki and RiRi, rolled out toting a little extra hydration and massage. And after this year’s show they were definitely going to need it!
As attendees, the first question on our minds was: what the **** are we going to wear!? But it didn’t take us long to settle on our fave Aussie designers Sass & Bide and Camilla for good luck…and comfort. Sky-high heels and a spandex jumpsuit aren’t really our idea of a good time but high fives to the Kardashians – they make it look so easy!
The show was broadcast live from the iconic Forum in Inglewood, CA and once we hit the carpet we were completely blown away by the crazy crowds, the cameras, and seeing all the celebs up close and personal. The beautiful people looked even more so in real life, but our standout hotties were J.Lo, Gwen Stefani and, of course, Queen Bey. J.Lo’s dress actually topped that infamous v-neck Versace. Mama must be drinking from the fountain of youth.
Inside the set looked like something out of The Fifth Element, and pop music’s reigning chart-toppers Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, and Jessie J opened the show with an awesome mashup of Break Free, Anaconda, and Bang Bang. Even with her wardrobe malfunction (talk about making an entrance) Nicki and the rest of the ladies kept rolling hot and brought the house down.
Out of all of the night’s many unforgettable performances we have to say our favorite was Beyonce. She absolutely stole the show and our hearts, especially when Jay Z and baby Blu presented her award. The only other moment that might have been as memorable was when the lovely gent standing next to us kept insisting we accompany him to his after party in Hollywood…wonder what was filling his MOBOT?
Throughout the entire show we couldn’t get over the incredible amount of talent that filled the room, spanning more than three decades. From Lorde and Ariana to Jim Carey – who’s stage slip was the best improv moment of the night – and the legend himself, Snoop. It just goes to show, doing what you love keeps you young! Everywhere we looked was a reminder to never stop going after your dreams and pushing your limits. Now what could be more MOBOT than that?
