Almost 7 years ago my friend Kristin invited me to run a 5k with her. I had never run more than a mile or two at a time at that point, had never even considered running a race, and was pretty uncertain at my ability to do so. But with Kristin's encouragement, we signed up and ran together. She then pushed me to sign up and run a half marathon with her the following year - a massive turning point in my life as I realized what was possible for me with the support and friendship of people like Kristin.
Because of Kristin's encouragement, support and unwavering belief in me, I have gone on to run over 30 races, including two marathons and a triathlon. I never would have have started without her.
Kristin got married in June, and her husband was diagnosed with incurable and inoperable stomach cancer in August. I have never felt more strongly that there is no one more deserving of help right now, and I want to do everything I can to honor the incredible strength of the person that is the reason why I run in the first place.
My goal is to raise $100 for every mile that I run on November 2nd - so $2600. I am over halfway to my goal with just under two weeks to go. I am asking for whatever you can give. You can read more about their story here and you can donate directly here. If you feel so inclined, please let me know if you donate as I'd love to send you a personal note of my thanks.
I am so grateful to MOBOT for supporting me by donating to Chris and Kristin AND for cheering me on in person in NYC!
